Alvaro dreams of becoming an outstanding writer, but is only capable of boring, pretentious writing. He works as the secretary of a notary in Seville, and his passion for writing is the only thing that adds color to a boring existence. His wife Amanda is completely different. She was always down-to-earth and never dreamed of writing, and it was her first novel that became a bestseller. It's just an irony of fate... The couple cannot avoid divorce, which pushes Alvaro to finally write an outstanding work. But when he is going to start creating, he is not able to write. He lacks not only talent, but also imagination. Under the guidance of Juan, a writing teacher, Álvaro discovers that truly great literature is inspired by reality, and sets out to create his own story. By manipulating friends and neighbors, Alvaro gets his plot, but will his true story have a happy ending?
