The paintings of the great Venetian artist Tintoretto impressed and almost frightened contemporaries. Cézanne believed that the value of Tintoretto for painting can be compared with the value of Plato for philosophy and Beethoven for music. Modern art critics compare the works of Tintoretto with the films of Christopher Nolan, noting the unusual visionary power of the works of both authors. Tintoretto is cinematic, and viewing his paintings on the big screen is a real pleasure.
